Combined with SSRIs (like sertraline, escitalopram, fluoxetine), SNRIs (like venlafaxine, duloxetine), MAOIs, tricyclic antidepressants, or lithium, 5-HTP can cause serotonin syndrome, a serious medical condition. Do not take Prime if you are on any of these medications. If you are unsure whether your medication affects serotonin, consult your doctor before starting Prime.

If you take triptans (sumatriptan, eletriptan, rizatriptan), tramadol, or dextromethorphan, consult your doctor before starting Prime. These medications also affect serotonin and can interact with 5-HTP.
